For a while after it was announced in August that Jennifer Lopez had decided to officially end her marriage to Ben Affleck, the star remained silent about her feelings regarding the divorce. It wasn’t until just over three weeks ago that she finally opened up publicly on the subject. Now, in a recent interview, Lopez has shared more about her experience.
As the actress and singer honestly admitted, the collapse of her marriage was a true drama for her—especially as she had placed so many hopes on this, her fourth marriage. Moreover, as J.Lo revealed, she felt it was her responsibility to hide her emotional turmoil from her children—16-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she had with ex-husband Marc Anthony. The need to constantly control her emotions only intensified the stress she was already feeling.
To cope, Jennifer had to develop a survival strategy, finding her own way to combat the emotional state she had fallen into. According to Lopez, the most important thing for her was to restore the connection with herself—both internally and with her body. She began incorporating daily morning meditations into her routine, combining them with breathing exercises. She also made it a rule to never skip her usual workouts, even when she didn’t feel like it, and instead made them more intense. Of course, like any woman, Lopez also decided to distract herself from gloomy thoughts by focusing on self-care. Although her time is limited with her busy schedule and parenting duties, she has established face and body care rituals that she strictly follows.
Lopez also finds comfort in thinking about the upcoming winter holidays. She confessed that she has loved Christmas since childhood, and this year, she is determined to celebrate with her family. As the singer shared, her mother Guadalupe, as well as her sisters Linda and Leslie, will be joining her and her children for the festivities at her Bel Air home.
