The charming student met the future British king while studying at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland in 2001. Kate was studying psychology before switching to the art history department. Princess of Wales’s classmate, Laura Warshauer, lived in the same apartment as Kate and William. She shared a photo with Middleton taken at a party in an apartment on Hope Street.
Kate is seen wearing a cream-colored sweater with a high neck. She wore brown eyeshadow with a layer of black eyeliner, peach blush, and nude lipstick. Kate styled her hair in small curls, letting them fall freely over her shoulders. Her accessories were understated: a pair of pearl stud earrings and a thin hair tie around her wrist. Laura wore a black sweater with a V-neck and matching stud earrings. Both Kate and Laura were holding pieces of brownie and smiling for the camera.
Warshauer expressed her support for the Princess of Wales. “Shoutout to Kate Middleton, future Queen of England and my college roommate! This is us at a party in an apartment on Hope Street. I have the fondest memories of college with Kate. She is the kindest, most caring, down-to-earth, and sincere person, and it’s incredible to see her shine and inspire the world with her compassion and courage,” Warshauer wrote.
After graduation, Laura returned to the US and became a singer. She previously shared that she witnessed the beginning of the romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton. “One of my favorite memories is from November of our first year, when we were invited to a Harry Potter-themed party at the castle. We all piled into a big bus and went there. I remember Kate and William dancing together all night. There was a charity auction where you could bid on a person for a day, and Will bid 200 pounds for Kate. She was dressed in a school uniform and was standing on those stone steps with all of us. That night, no one else could win Kate’s attention. They already had that connection.”
The singer added that all their friends were certain that Middleton and William would end up together. “There was always such natural chemistry between them, and it was clear that Will had his eye on Kate. I remember a party early in our first year. One girl approached Will, trying to flirt with him, and she was quite persistent. He was very polite, but it was obvious he wanted her to leave him alone. We were standing there, thinking how we could help him get out of this awkward situation. Suddenly, Kate casually walked over to him and hugged him. That gave Will the opportunity to say, ‘Sorry, I have a girlfriend.’ Kate was the only girl in the room who could do that so effortlessly,” Laura recalled.
